KANAZAWA NAMED AS PRESIDENT, CEO

Parker Ranch announced the appointment of Chris J. Kanazawa as President and Chief Executive Officer beginning July 1, 2004. In his new position, Kanazawa will be responsible for overall ranch performance, including the implementation of its strategic plan. Consistent with that plan, Kanazawa will assume day-to-day management responsibilities and will oversee the financial, investment and business activities of Parker Ranch.

“I am extremely honored with the opportunity to be a part of Parker Ranch, an organization with such rich history,” said Chris Kanazawa. “The mission of preserving the Waimea quality of life and providing perpetual financial support to our Beneficiaries is something I find very easy to be passionate about.”

Kanazawa brings to Parker Ranch more than 23 years in the real estate industry. Kanazawa, a graduate of the University Lab School, has had his own real estate consulting firm on Oahu. Prior to starting his own company, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Coldwell Banker Commercial Pacific Properties from 2000 to 2002. Kanazawa also held positions at AMFAC/JMB for seventeen years, four of which he served as President of the Real Estate Division. Kanazawa obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Hawaii and a Master of Business Administration degree in accounting and finance from the University Of Southern California Graduate School Of Business.

Kanazawa has been involved in numerous community and professional organizations including the State of Hawaii Agribusiness Development Corporation, Urban Land Institute, Boy Scouts of America – Aloha Council, Land Use Research Foundation and the Diamond Head Theatre.

“Chris was selected to lead Parker Ranch as it strives to branch out and further diversify its business operations. His extensive experience, coupled with his skills in formulating land use strategies, master planning and in consensus building between community and business interests were important considerations in selecting him to lead the Ranch. Chris is dedicated to carrying out Richard Smart’s commitment to the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust beneficiaries who make up the fabric of our community. His background and skills will help us accomplish our goals in achieving the long term purpose of the Trust,” said Trustee Mel Hewett.

Chris and his wife, Mae will move from their Honolulu residence to one in Kamuela where Chris will enjoy the cool upcountry climate during his morning workouts.

Parker Ranch is one of the largest ranches in the United States, spanning over 175,000 acres across the Big Island of Hawaii. It surrounds the town of Waimea and spreads between the Kohala and Mauna Kea mountains. The ranch is owned by the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust for the benefit of four local charities: North Hawaii Community Hospital, Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Parker School Trust Corporation and Hawaii Community Foundation.
